Currently Hiring for Overnight and weekend shift positions:

Overnights Monday through Thursday, 4:30 PM to 5 AM

Weekends, Friday through Sunday, 5 AM to 5 PM

(Paid for a 40-hour week)

Starting pay $18.72 per hour plus $1.10 per hour night shift differential

Painters employed at Veritas Steel's Palatka location are responsible for applying coatings as required by job specifications to fabricated material per code requirements. Painters must have the ability to operate paint equipment, interpret prints for prime only or paint areas, and use paint and blast profile gauges. They can meet high production demands promptly and complete high-quality work with expertise. Painters must also adhere to company policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

• Apply coatings to fabricated material while adhering to code requirements and guidelines
• Read and interpret blueprints for prime only or paint areas
• Draw templates as indicated on the blueprint
• Perform layouts as indicated on the blueprint
• Setup and operate equipment necessary to coat fabricated material
• Use proper safety equipment, paint equipment, paint and thinners, and assure that surfaces are adequately prepared for painting all operations
• Maintain shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of items
• Coordinate with shop supervisor and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently, on time, and with no defects
• Adheres to safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and surrounding coworkers
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
• Able to apply coatings to fabricated material per code requirements
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, draw templates and perform the layouts as indicated by the blueprints
• Able to adapt to work priorities, communicate well, meet deadlines and schedules, and work as part of a team
• Experience in industrial painting; a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift 80 pounds and carry 35 pounds
• Must be able to push /move objects up to 40 lbs. of force
• Pulling requirements up to 45lbs. of force
• Necessary to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel
• Must have a good range of motion when reaching forward, shoulder to overhead, and bending
• Lay face up on creeper and push/pull self with legs

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed indoors in a large warehouse or outside in all weather conditions
• There is regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel & other possible hazardous conditions
• Safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots are required; a respirator is required for specific operations
